Level 1 – Discovery Course
Overview
The Level 1 Discovery Course course is great for anyone that is looking for a more in-depth introduction to the sport – but may not yet have time for the full kiteboarding course. The Level 1 course counts as the first day of the full 3-day kite course. Students that complete their Level 1 course can then choose to continue their certification with us at Habagat, or at another IKO kite school around the world.
On the Level 1 Discovery Course you will learn to master the wind power and the essential fundamental skills needded to become a kiteboarder. As with the Discover Kiteboarding course, the Level 1 course starts with theory about kite control and the wind window, but goes into more detail about kite flying and safety systems, and focuses on water exercises that include generating power for body dragging, body dragging upwind, and water relaunching and self rescue.
At the end of the couse, students will be confident in kite flying and relanching an inflatable kite, and will be ready for the next step in the Level 2 Intermediate Course – getting up and riding the kiteboard.
If you feel you are decided and want to pursue kiteboarding, we recommend doing the Full Three-day Kiteboarding Course to get your IKO Certification, which will allow you to rent equipment and kitesurf at kite destinations around the world.
